Q & A
WHAT DO YOU LOVE MOST ABOUT BEING A HAIR STYLIST?
Giving my customers the confidence to be whoever they want to be whilst knowing that they have full trust in my ability's to do so.
WHAT MADE YOU WANT TO BECOME A HAIR STYLIST?
Initially it was something I fell into. I had to make a decision about what i was going to do with my life, "I don't want to get my hands dirty and I love fashion, tattoos and women..." I've never looked back.
WHAT'S YOUR FAVOURITE/STYLE/PROCESS/TECHNIQUE YOU MOST ENJOY DOING?
This is the bit I always struggle with, I find it hard to pigeon hole my techniques as a stylist, although artistic colouring and sharp bobs is what pushes my buttons, this is just the tip of the iceberg.
HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE YOUR STYLE OF HAIRDRESSING?
Energetic, forward-thinking, cosmic.
WHAT TOP HAIR CARE TIPS CAN YOU GIVE US?
Don't read the label, listen to your stylists advice, and simply enjoy your hair.
WHAT'S YOUR FAVOURITE LOOK OR STYLE THIS AUTUMN?
I think dark rooted balayage and chocolate brown mid-lengths to ends are going to be a huge hit this year on long hair, along with one length short bobs and highly textured blunt fringes.
WHAT ARE YOUR GO-TO PRODUCTS OR PRODUCT RANGE FOR RECREATING THAT SALON-AT-HOME LOOK?
Any kind of high quality oil is always going to give you a stress free time at home, for most long hair (don't use too much, remember you can always add more).
I would also say try and use Davines full body mousse, as it doesn't set hard but gives you lots of body.
And last but not least, I would say to try and apply a conditioning treatment at home at least once a week, you can buy these from all salons and supermarkets, very easy to apply and lock plenty of moisture into your hair.
WHERE DO YOU FIND INSPIRATION?
I find my inspiration from everything around me, day-to-day styles and moving fashion trends. A little bit of Dazed & Confused magazine can all ways go down a treat too.
FOR A CLIENT TO GET THE MOST OUT OF THEIR APPOINTMENT, WHAT CAN THEY DO OR BRING WITH THEM?
I like to ask new and existing clients to bring a range of different pictures and colours with them if they're struggling to explain what they like. It can sometimes be hard to get inside people heads to pinpoint what they see, a variety of different ideas can always help your stylist get on the same wave length as you.
